Dr Leora Dobia qualified with a Masters of Osteopathy Degree and has over four years experience treating patients from a wide variety of backgrounds. Specialising in musculoskeletal dysfunction, her advanced manual therapy skills, in combination with training undertaken in Dry-Needling and Cupping, allows her to effectively address any joint or muscle complaint that may present. With a strong emphasis on patients progressing to self-management, Leora has completed all 4 levels of Clinical Pilates training at Dance Medicine Australia.
Leora also has vast experience in pitch-side trauma management for elite sports teams. Most recently, Leora has been head trainer with the Victorian Amateur Football Association club in Eastern Melbourne, The Melbourne Rebels u18 and u16s squads and Scotch College. Providing injury management, rehabilitation as well as pre- and post- game preparation for all players of the Melbourne Rebels Junior Development squads and Scotch College.
Over the summer 2011 Leora embarked on a journey to Kenya, with the organisation “Medics to Africa” where she was involved in treating post surgical patients in the orthopaedic ward of Coast General Hospital in Mombasa. In addition to this Leora was treating children suffering from Cerebral Palsy at Tom Mboya School for the disabled, Mombasa. This was an extremely rewarding and educational experience and Leora is hoping that she will have the opportunity to go back to Africa and do some more volunteer work.
Throughout her schooling life Leora was involved in many sports and represented both her school and other organisations in Athletics, basketball and netball. In her VCE year Leora captained her school swim team. Leora is a keen weekend warrior and a gym junkie, so she understands how to manage injuries in balance with continuing to exercise! Leora is an avid traveller who embraces other cultures and experiences; she is very keen to add more stamps to her passport.
She works in collaboration with our entire team of osteopaths, physiotherapists, myotherapists and massage therapists. You do not require a referral to see Leora and she is a member of the Australian Osteopathic Association.
