Catherine completed her studies at Victoria University, graduating with a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences (Osteopathy) and Masters’ in Health Sciences (Osteopathy), for which she investigated Patient Perceptions of Clinic Environments.
Being active from a young age with dancing, basketball and long distance running, Catherine has a great appreciation for the human body and all of the amazing things it can do. After several sporting injuries in her youth, she is well aware of the body’s limitations and its capacity to recover with early and appropriate treatment intervention.
Since university Catherine has broadened her knowledge and skills with regular continued professional development courses and seminars, including Trigger Point Dry-Needling for Pain Management and Sports Injury recovery, Upper Limb Tendinopathy Rehabilitation and Fundamentals of Osteopathy in the Cranial Field.
Catherine uses a wide variety of techniques to ensure the best outcome for each patient, enabling her to tailor her treatments to each patient’s needs. Catherine also takes into consideration diet and lifestyle factors and offers advice on making changes to improve the outcome of their treatment and assist with injury prevention.
Although Catherine enjoys treating a variety of conditions, her special interest is in the treatment of neck pain and headaches, acute and chronic low back pain and pregnancy-related pain.
She works in collaboration with our entire team of osteopaths, physiotherapists, myotherapists and massage therapists. You do not require a referral to see Catherine and she is a member of Osteopathy Australia.
Dr Catherine Curtain is available at our Hampton clinic and is registered for private health fund rebates through our HICAPS machine.
