DAVID ABOUD
Osteopath

Dr David Aboud completed both his Bachelor degree and Masters in Osteopathic Medicine at RMIT, where he investigated the efficacy of Osteopathic treatment on shoulder injuries. While completing his studies, David worked as a Remedial massage therapist and a sports trainer for both football and soccer clubs. This provided David the opportunity to manage a wide variety of injuries across a broad range of ages, from fit young athletes to older individuals returning to sport after prolonged periods of inactivity.

Being involved in sport since a young age, David takes particular interest in soccer, football, cricket, basketball and tennis. He continues to maintain a keen interest in fitness and loves treating sporting injuries. Whilst comfortable treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries, he has a special interest in treating acute and chronic low back problems and shoulder injuries.

A strong belief of David’s, is that if you can alter and assist in correcting people’s posture, biomechanics and lifestyle through Osteopathic treatment and rehabilitation exercise, you will have a positive influence on their life.

CATHERINE CURTAIN
Osteopath

Dr Catherine Curtain studied for five years at Victoria University, completing her Bachelor and Masters degrees, where she investigated patient’s experiences in osteopathic clinics. Since graduating Catherine has continued her learning with seminars and courses, including a course in dry needling. Catherine is an active member of the Australian Osteopathic Association.
 
Catherine has always been active, dancing from the age of 3 and participating in sports such as basketball and long distance running, but also enjoys relaxing and regularly attends yoga classes.   
 
Although she enjoys treating a variety of conditions, her special interest is in treatment of headaches, acute and chronic low back conditions and pregnancy related pain.

MARCEL GHOUKASSIAN
Osteopath

B.Sc.(Clin.Sci) M.H.Sci.(Osteo)

Dr Marcel Ghoukassian completed a general year of science at Melbourne University followed by 5 years full time study in osteopathic medicine. During this time he attained a Masters degree for research in the assessment of spinal dysfunction. He is a member of the Australian Osteopathic Association and of Sports Medicine Australia. Through his youth he has participated in a wide variety of sports including basketball, tennis, football, baseball, hockey, athletics, surfing, skiing and golf; and at great expense to his parents developed a vast first hand knowledge of sporting injuries!

Over the years he has continued to develop a special interest in the treatment and management of both acute and chronic injuries especially of the neck, back, shoulder and arm. In particular a love of golf and tennis has exposed him to some of the many injury pitfalls associated with these sporting pursuits ... handicap included!

Marcel is continually updating his education with further training in all fields of health care and has treated a wide variety of patients, from office workers to labourers, and from elite athletes to weekend warriors! Over the past year he has worked trackside with a number of V8 Supercar drivers, treating them and their pit crew to ensure maximum performance on race day.

ANDREW HOARE
Physiotherapist

B.Physio, Clinical Pilates Practitioner

Andrew has been practicing physiotherapy in private and sports settings since graduating from the University of Melbourne in 1995.  He has worked as a team physiotherapist for the Victorian women's hockey team and has contributed to the Melbourne Tigers' strength training program by conducting team Clinical Pilates classes.

Andrew's focus over the years has become more and more directed towards high quality exercise prescription with the aim of helping his clients recover from injuries, improve their posture and increase their sporting performance. He uses Pilates equipment such as the reformer and trapeze table, along with small weights and balance equipment to provide a challenging but safe exercise program specific to the goals and abilities of the individual.

Andrew is currently completing a Graduate Certificate in sports Physiotherapy, keeping up to date with the latest developments in his field.  At Head to Toe Healthcare, he conducts one-on-one, small group and Pilates Mat classes in our dedicated Pilates studio.

MICHAEL PATTERSON
Physiotherapist

B.Physio, Clinical Pilates Practitioner

Michael is an APA registered Physiotherapist with a background and keen interest in special population training and rehabilitation. He has learnt to appreciate the important role Pilates plays in conditioning the human body for posture, fitness and injury prevention. Michael has completed extensive training in Dynamic Pilates (high intensity Pilates) and has more recently undertaken advanced training to further his knowledge and expertise in the area of special population training.

Michael has enjoyed managing a vast variety of injuries, from chronic back pain in the elderly whilst visiting aged care facilities, or addressing the acute injuries of professional fighters who have competed in both Australia (International Sports Karate Association) and internationally (US Open World Championships, Florida).

Out of work hours Michael enjoys playing basketball, keeping fit with his mates and spending as much time on the beach as possible. He also likes to broaden his education by attending courses outside of the job description such as the advanced mathematics subject he completed at Monash University.

Michael is available at our Hampton clinic and is registered for private health fund rebates through our HICAPS machine.



JADE JOHNSTONE
Women’s Health & Continence Physiotherapist

B. Physio, Post Grad Cert Phty (Continence & Pelvic floor rehab)

Jade Johnstone is a registered physiotherapist with post-graduate qualifications in continence and pelvic floor rehabilitation (University of Melbourne). Jade has been working in women’s health since 2002 when she was appointed Senior Clinician Women’s Health Physiotherapist at Monash Medical Centre. Since this time Jade has held a number of positions in public and private practice including Cabrini Hospital.

Jade maintains a commitment to professional development, quality assurance and patient centred care. Her practice involves specific clinical intervention with timely transition into self-management using yoga and pilates methods - also provided at Head to Toe Healthcare.

HAROLD STERNFELD
Physiotherapist

B.App.Sc.(Physio)

Since graduating from Lincoln Institute in 1983 Harold has spent his professional life in private practice. His major interests are the treatment of sports injuries, orthopaedic rehabilitation and Occupational Health.
 
For 15 years through June 2008 Harold was a principal in a Physiotherapy practice located with The Waverley Orthopaedic Group. The management of patient’s pre and post surgery, sports injuries and traditional sore backs and necks were the main areas treated at the clinic. Emphasis was put on hands on treatment and home exercise routines.
 
During the 1980s Harold was one of the Physiotherapists at Carlton Football Club (AFL). He also spent 15 years as a Physiotherapist with the Victorian Amateur Football Association.
 
In recent years Harold has become involved with Occupational Health through on site treatment, training and assessment programs.
 
Harold is available at our Hampton clinic and is registered for private health fund rebates through our HICAPS machine.



STEVE ANASTASOPOULOS
Remedial Massage Therapist/Myotherapist

Ad.Dip.Remedial Massage (Myotherapy)

Steve is a fully qualified and experienced remedial massage therapist and Myotherapist.  He has worked with sporting clubs at a high competitive level and brings with him a knowledge and understanding of a range of issues which may be presented to him in private practice.  He finds that best results are achieved when incorporating a range of techniques such as stretching , myofascial release, cupping, and when appropriate, dry-needling (acupuncture needles). 

His focus and commitment to understanding the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system and its contribution to the onset of many common joint and muscle injuries has helped him discover how invaluable massage therapy is as a therapeutic intervention for relieving the physical manifestations of muscular strain.

Steve is a current member of the Australia Association of Massage Therapist and is available at our Hampton clinic.  He is registered for private health insurance rebates through our HICAPS machine and is registered for Work Cover & TAC patients. 



SIOBHAN GILLIGAN
Remedial Massage Therapist

Siobhan is the newest practitioner to join Head to Toe and is a fully qualified Sports/Remedial Massage Therapist.  She has been practising massage since 2008 after completing a Certificate IV in Massage and Aromatherapy at the Australian College of Natural Medicine.  Siobhan then went on to further her repertoire of therapeutic techniques by studying Remedial Massage at Copeland College, Melbourne.

Siobhan assists her clients with flexibility, body awareness and vitality.  After dancing ballet for 10 years and recovering from a few injuries experienced herself she knows how beneficial massage can be.
Having a regular massage to look forward to helps her clients maintain a healthy and happy lifestyle.

Siobhan is committed to finding the right approach to achieve the best possible outcome.  She also enjoys treating people of all ages who are looking to become more proactive with their health and well being.
